Programme Highlight
The
Competition Ordinance, which serves to safeguard and enhance a competitive
environment for consumers and businesses in Hong Kong by prohibiting
anti-competitive conduct by businesses, has come into full effect. This seminar
will look at how the new legislation is impacting on some of the prevailing
tendering practices and collective actions (including in the context of trade
associations) commonly seen in the construction industry in Hong Kong which is
localised and concentrated.

Speakers
Alfred Wu and Pearl Yeung of Norton Rose Fulbright Hong Kong
Alfred
is a construction lawyer based in Hong Kong who handles an extensive range of
contentious and non-contentious construction matters for clients
which variously include
government departments, statutory bodies, employers, engineers,
architects, contractors
and subcontractors. Alfred also represents clients in
construction-related criminal
investigations and prosecutions.
Pearl Yeung is an antitrust, competition and regulatory lawyer
based in Hong Kong. She
advises Asia-based and multi-national companies on international
cartel investigations,
multi-jurisdictional merger filings, market abuse issues and
general competition
compliance matters in a number of industry sectors such as
education, media and
television, telecommunications, multimedia business platforms, oil
and gas, transport and
infrastructure, financial services, real estate and fast-moving
consumer goods.
