Speaker: Mr. Brian L.Y. CHENG

The director of GreenWalls Bioengineering (HK) Limited and CanaShield Nano-Technologies Limited. He has been responsible for the design, research and implementation of advanced green building materials and concrete preservation technologies from year 2000. He is a civil engineer and chartered horticulturist as well as an authorized signatory and a technical director of registered minor works contractor (Company). He has also attained many professional qualifications and recognition in construction industry. Mr. Brian Cheng has over 40 years of geotechnical and civil construction experience, and was directly involved in major foundation works, basement, tunnel waterproofing, ground treatment, slope stabilization & LPM works in Hong Kong. With his extensive experience and research over the years, he has dedicated in providing green building solution since the establishment of GreenWalls and has developed nano-structured coating systems integrating with bioengineered greening systems and Solar PV Technology (AIPV System) which are widely adopted by HK Government and the industry. The goals of GreenWalls is to provide innovative total green building solutions in GreenTech, NanoTech, BioTech and SolarTech to the construction industry.

Programme Highlights:

Introducing how innovative green building materials and construction technologies have been incorporated in buildings and structures concerning environmental protection, sustainable development and improving construction quality. The design strategies and implementation of GreenTech, NanoTech, BioTech and SolarTech in real-life will be discussed.

Report

Technical Seminar and Webinar on Revolutionary and Sustainable Green Building Materials and Construction Technologies towards Eco-Friendly City

By Ir LAM Chi Sing

A webinar on the above mentioned topic was organized on 20 December 2021 at the HKIE Headquarters. The speaker Mr. Brian Cheng shared his experience on the application of innovative materials and construction technique incorporated in sustainable green building. Four green technologies were applied in his optimization project of landscape work on CIC zero carbon park. It includes Green Tech, Solar Tech, Bio Tech and Nano Tech. Turf rehabilitation was carried out in the landscape based on bioengineering green concept, site condition identification was made with determination of natural wind movement and ventilation environment to form tray planter system to improve anesthetic appearance, maintenance operation and elevated planting, it formed as a microclimate along the tabeluia path. Chitin technology was applied for Bio-pesticidal treatment. For solar tech, nano-crystallization and polymerization penetration (NCPP), and Air Improvement Photovoltaic System (AIPV) were applied. AIPV system was applied on Solar kiosk, it is a structural glass panel, it could be selected different colour and light transparency, it was also air purification and self-cleansing, it could decomposition and disinfection with the time of the day. For nano tech, NCPP technology applied on waterproof membrane was adopted, it could be used for water tank waterproofing, basement and concrete curing, Nano penetrative treatment could also be used to apply wood treatment. The talk was quite innovative, the talk ended with question-and-answer session.
