Ir Prof Mak is the Chairman of the Materials Division and Head of
Civil Engineering Department of the Chu Hai College of Higher Education, Hong
Kong.

Highlights
The
Materials Division sees the need to facilitate the career development of
Materials Engineers in the construction industry and intends to streamline the
route to corporate memberships by opening up the academic requirements for
entry. Graduates of five related
disciplines in the construction industry, i.e. Civil, Structural,
Environmental, Building and Chemical are accepted to meet the academic
requirements for entry, on the condition that they have studied two materials
subjects in their undergraduate study.
The graduates meeting the academic requirements can then be subject to
professional assessment after completing a minimum of 6 years of working
experience.
