Demolition
Demolition is a kind of construction related activities
that many practitioners in the engineering fields often overlooked. Many modern
buildings nowadays the structure of which are quite complex in design.
Situations like structures of extremely huge volume, high headroom, long span,
with complicated layout, odd shape, partly or fully composed with precast
elements, tensioned members, in the form of basement, or with certain earth
retaining structure within. Tradition method to carry out the demolition can no
longer apply in order to tackle all the concerns behind. Including safety, of
course.
In this seminar, experts in this area will share their
experience making use of the projects they handled in the past years to
illustrate what the challenges are commonly facing in those kinds of
demolitions. These include the using of diamond-cut, boring, hydraulic
splitting, remote-control robots, super-high pressure water jetting, or a
combination of these methods with the input of AR or BIM to facilitate the works.
